Our Board of Education consists of five community members elected by the citizens of the district and acts to establish policies that govern the operation of the North Mahaska Community School District.

MEETINGS

All meeting notices are announced to local media and posted on our website.

Regular meetings of the North Mahaska Community School District Board of Education are scheduled on the third Monday of each month beginning at 6 p.m. The date and time could be subject to change. Meetings take place in the Library of the Jr./Sr. High School at 2163 135th Street, New Sharon, Iowa 50207.

Special meetings are also called when necessary.

Board meeting agendas are posted on the Board website one business day before a scheduled meeting. Special provisions apply in the case of an emergency meeting.

The board secretary records the minutes of the board meetings. Minutes of the previous meetings are provided for each meeting, along with the current agenda. The minutes represent official actions taken by the board, but do not include verbatim transcripts of conversations and discussions from each meeting.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

All regular and special meetings are open to the public. Individuals or groups wishing to address the Board should indicate their desire to do so either by written request, in person, or by telephone (641-637-4187) to the Superintendent no later than 3 pm on the Thursday before the meeting.
